Equinox Swiss Wrap-Up and Spring Super Swiss Kickoff!

We’re excited to share some highlights and upcoming events in this quick update from your Media Chess Club.

Equinox Swiss: A Grand Finale Our Equinox Swiss tournament wrapped up on March 19th. Congrats to Joe Mucerino who navigated a fierce field of 30 talented players, clinching the top spot with an impressive 3 wins and a draw. Congratulations on your outstanding performance!

Rising Stars The tournament also saw significant rating gains from four of our players, showcasing their growth and hard work:

  • Malen Park: +83
  • Michael Medford: +74
  • Ellis Driscoll: +70
  • Rob McFadden: +54

Keep an eye on these players as they look to continue their ratings ascent.

Welcoming New Faces A warm welcome to our newest members Jeff Johnson, Isthier Chaudhury, Jaleel Coleman, and Dhanyasri Saravanakumar Vidhya as they venture into rated play at our club. We’re thrilled to have you join our chess family!

Spring Super Swiss: Save the Date Mark your calendars! The Spring Super Swiss is on the horizon, starting with another eagerly awaited Cedar Creek pizza night in round 1 (Tuesday, March 26th), courtesy of Tony Durkin. Be sure to express your thanks to Tony for making this delicious event possible. We will have 7 large pizzas and some snacks and refreshments so come a little early and come hungry.

Exclusive Event for Club Members Don’t forget about the Free Quad on Tuesday, April 30th. This dual-rated event (G/25; d/5) is a perfect opportunity for club members to enjoy 3 competitive matches in one evening. Register in advance to let us know you are planning to attend.

Supporting Our Community

As our club grows and hosts rated tournaments and special events like our much-loved pizza nights, we’re inviting members who are able to contribute $20 annually to support these initiatives. Whether or not you choose to contribute financially, your presence and participation in the club are what truly matter and are greatly appreciated by all of us.

We’re also looking for volunteers to help with event organization, game annotation, member spotlights, the newsletter, and tournament directing. If you’re interested in contributing your skills, please reach out.
